With the Second half of the year underway, Tea Tree and Co is showing no signs of slowing down, as they’ve recently opened up their doors at 27 Boxes and looking forward to their launch event on the 20th of July 2019. Tea Tree And Co, Founded by Mmabatho Montse-Hlabangane, offers a wide variety of quality silk flowers, specific ornaments, contemporary artworks for office and home decorations, as well as bed linen which is made from 100% organic cotton. It’s the perfect spot to shop as you will find interesting pieces that will compliment your home and give your space an instant-style upgrade.
Whether you’re in the market for pieces to introduce into your home or looking for décor inspiration that you can incorporate into your spaces, walking into the store will make you instantly feel at home. As you step in, you’re promptly hit by the beautiful scent which fills up the room and then drawn in further by warm welcoming colours which spark your interest. You can’t help but walk around and take it all in. However, space is more than just a store as it’s a bit of a glimpse into the heart and personality of its founder; Mmabatho Montse-Hlabangane.
Mmabatho Montse-Hlabangane who is currently studying for a Masters in Management in the field of Governance, specialising in Public Policy, poured out a bit of her heart into Tea Tree And Co. The multi-faceted Mmabatho, also holds a BCom degree in Business Management, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a certificate in Marketing Management.
She left the world of corporate to pursue her other business interests which, outside of Tea Tree And Co, including acquiring a 51% shareholding in a fast-food franchise and seeing to the day-to-day operations of the business, managing an annual turnover of over 7 million rand.
She is more than just a businesswoman, she is also passionate about social and human development in Africa. Having founded, funded and run a not-for-profit organisation for two years where she worked with matriculants from Diepsloot, who were unable to further their studies for various reasons. It was through her foundation that she was able to raise funds for one of the individuals to study, who has since moved on to live and work in the USA.
Although the store has already been open for a month, the launch event will be on the 20th of July 2019 in collaboration with Unlabelled Magazine. It will be an early afternoon of drinks, all things design and celebrations accompanied by a talk hosted by Unlabelled Magazine about the importance of wellness and well- being.
The discussion will be facilitated by Phendu Kuta Founder and Editor of Unlabelled Magazine and will also be used as a platform for Mmabatho, MD at Tea Tree & CO to introduce herself and share some of her experiences around the theme of the day – spiritual wellness. Mmabatho and Phendu will be exploring how the spaces we occupy impact our wellness and well-being. The theme will be discussed over three events as a three-part series, and the sub-theme for the launch event is “Be the influence or be influenced.”
Also speaking on the theme of wellness and well-being will be founder and designer of Mwezipendo; Busisiwe Mkhize. Busisiwe’s unique pieces go beyond the brand, her designs which are headed by a style maven and sangoma, are inspired to help people connect people to their royal selves. Their goal is to put the African spirit into functional fashion, this go hand-in-hand with spirit connection while you are looking great!
