Miss SA 2020 Top 10 finalist and former Miss Soweto 2017, Busisiwe Mmotla launched her female clothing line in partnership with Soweto based designers under the brand name Busisiwear. The clothing line is the first of many projects that will be rolled out this year as she establishes and tries to further her modelling career. Busisiwear is an attempt at utilizing the new entrepreneur practices of using eCommerce to reach all customers on the internet by offering unique clothing. The clothing line Busisiwear offers luxurious comfort lingerie, sexy swimsuits and versatile loungewear for ladies. In a video ad, promotional posted on social media the brand states that its values lay in being modern feminists and giving light to positive body issues.
The former pageant queen Busisiwe Mmotla says she created the brand as a way to foster positive conversations. She says “The brand is about encouraging women to be confident in their different bodies because all women are not the same. Women are dynamic and not monolithic and that is why we all have different body shapes, sizes and careers. If you look at the models on the website you will see the different models approached and how they are all beautiful in their own way.”
Speaking on the outfits she says “Reality is most women have difficulties finding lingerie or swimwear or loungewear that they can wear as two things. For instance, the items in our collection can be worn for its obvious purpose but however if worn separately it can be incorporated into other outfits too. Our collection is inclusive and different and it is our intention to expand our offering as time goes on.”
The brand has also included a CSI element to the project as she included local designers as the major collaborators. For this collection, Busisiwe reached out to Pearl Tamase of Stitch Sanctuary who is based in Soweto to be the lead designer for the loungewear line and Zakhele Nxumalo of Ark Clothing who is also based in Soweto as the lead designer for Accentuate which is the luxury Lingerie Line.
The collections were modelled by different models representing different kinds of women’s bodies. Models included fellow Miss SA 2020 contestants Olin Shae De La Cruz and Lerato Malatji, plus size beauty model Babalwa Jebe and fitness model Palesa Mosiea who modeled the lingerie and swimwear collection. The loungewear collection was modelled by Fitness Model Chante Van Der Walt and former Miss Gauteng Exclusive Nondumiso Mndebele.
Dominating the collection is a presentation of neutral tones with additions in options such as hues of black, red, blue, and other calming colours. For more outfits please visit www.busisiwear.com or @Busisiwear_ on social media.
