My hair is… happy!

Before we went on lockdown… a typical hair routine would be getting up each morning, oiling my scalp and then wait till about 15 min to sprits my hair wet with water. I then add curl activator and oil moisturizer as well as gel to my hair and detangle it. As soon as my detangling is done, I go ahead and style as desired.

My hair routine has changed now… well before lockdown I was captive. I decided to go natural and transition my hair in December 2019. It was clear to me that my hair had dead ends but I was so used to having long hair that cutting my hair or doing the big chop would do me well. A week into lockdown I could feel my hair is broken and using flexi rods and bantu knots was time-consuming. I then did a big chop in honor of my freedom. I was always known for the girl with the nice long straight hair but underneath all of this flat-ironed hair, was a bush of damaged curls.

Now my hair routine has changed because I have to spend enough time on my hair. There are products and styling tools I’d like to buy from my friends but because of lockdown I am not allowed to visit anyone. My friends sell diffusers and styling tools so I have to style with what I have, which for me is not doing it for my hair.

The challenge with my hair is… growth. I don’t know what’s up with my hair but it grows very slow.

My lockdown hairstyle is… a curly puff. I use a Denmun look-alike brush because my budget couldn’t afford an actual Denmun brush. Lol. As a student, it’s tough out here. But I use a Denmun brush to make coils. I then allow it to air dry and then I separate the coils to have bouncy curls.

Top tip(s) anyone with your hair type can use to keep hair healthy and strong this winter? Well I have between 3b and 3c hair. My hair loves oils. Argan oils, coconut oil, and jojoba oil. I would advise people with the same hair type like mine to oil their hair by massaging the oils in at night before going to sleep. It makes me feel relaxed and my hair is loving the moisture.

My favourite ORS product to use is the… ORS Argan Oil Fortifying Hair Oil.
